Manchester United have confirmed they have agreed on the transfer of Antony from Ajax for £85m ($99m).
A protracted recruitment saga finally ended when the Red Devils identified the 22-year-old as a top target at the start of the summer window. According to reports, he will sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford, linking up with Erik ten Hag. The club’s official statement read: “Manchester United have reached an agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Antony, subject to a medical, completion of player terms and international clearance.”

Antony’s arrival adds more strength to United’s collective ranks, with the man who scored 25 goals in 82 appearances for Ajax set to fill a wide attacking role in a system that favors a front three.
The South American’s debut for United could see him thrown in at the deep end when the Red Devils take on old rivals Arsenal – who have made an impressive start to the 2022-23 campaign – on September 4.
