The Spanish basketball team is the champion of EuroBasket 2022! Sergio Scariolo’s team, which we saw in the group stage in Tbilisi, beat France 88:76 in the final held in Berlin and won the title for the fourth time in history.

It is interesting that in the 2nd quarter, the Spanish team was leading by 21 points (47:26), and it seemed that the fate of the final was already decided. However, the French did not think so. Vincent Collet’s players won the end of the 2nd quarter and the start of the 3rd quarter by 20:2. Thus, the deficit was only 3 points – 46:49.
Sergio Scariolo took another minute break, which woke up the Spaniards. After their small escape, the score became 58:46. As it turned out, this was a decisive episode. In the remaining time, the French did not come close to the opponent by 6 points.
The game leaders
The final hero was Juancho Hernangรณmez, who scored 27 points and 5 rebounds. Willy Hernangรณmez had 14 points and 8 rebounds, Lorenzo Brown – 14 points and 11 assists, and Jaime Fernรกndez – 13 points.
Evan Fournier (23 points), Thomas Heurtel (16 points, 7 assists), and Gershon Yabusele (13 points, 6 assists) were outstanding from the French side.
For information, the Spaniards suffered the only defeat at the tournament in the group stage held in Tbilisi against Belgium (73:83). Instead, they defeated Bulgaria (114:87), Georgia (90:64), Montenegro (82:65), Turkey (72:69), Lithuania (102:94), Finland (100:90) and Germany (96:91).

Two basketball players of the Spanish national team were included in the symbolic top five of the European Championship: Brown and Willy Hernangรณmez (he also won the MVP title of the tournament). Apart from them, Greek Giannis Antetokounmpo, French Rudy Gobert, and German Dennis Schrรถder were selected.
