Sardar Azmoun, the Iranian forward of Leverkusen, expressed his opinion regarding the ongoing protests in his homeland. After that, all posts from his Instagram page disappeared.
Mass protests have been going on for one week in Iran, which resulted in the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. The morality police arrested the girl for improperly wearing the hijab. It was later reported that Mahsa fell ill and died after being taken to hospital.
“According to the national team rules, we are not allowed to make statements during the meeting, but I can’t be silent anymore. If I am kicked out of the national team because of this, this sacrifice is not worth a single hair of Iranian women. I will not delete this post under any circumstances. Shame on those who kill people so easily. Go ahead, Iranian women,” the 27-year-old attacker wrote.
A few hours after posting the mentioned post in the story, all publications on Azmun’s Instagram disappeared. Only the profile photo remained black.
