The new season of the National Basketball Association (NBA) opened with 2 games, and one of them did not pass without incident. In the opening match, Boston and Philadelphia competed, and at the start of the 3rd quarter, Marcus Smart and Joel Embiid got stuck and had to be rescued by their teammates.
Everything happened like this: Embiid grabbed Smart’s hand while removing the ball on his own rim, after which the latter ended up on the floor. Marcus did not like that after he fell, Embiid stood on top of him, pulled him to his feet, and knocked him down. A team fight followed.
As a result of the incident, Smart received personal and technical fouls, which left him very unhappy.
“I went for the rebound and there was nothing surprising about it. The referee called a foul and I stopped fighting, and he grabbed my hand and tried to break it. As a result, only I received a technical foul. Everyone saw it. If I had continued the episode, they would probably have kicked me out and punished me with 3-4 matches. Is this how you treat the best defender of the year? I showed patience, otherwise I could have broken his head”.

Finally, Smart finished the game with 14 points and 7 assists. The heroes of the game were Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, who scored 35-35 points. The latter also had 12 rebounds. It was the first time since Wilt Chamberlain and Jerry West that two basketball players from the same club scored 35 or more points in a game. In this background, James Harden’s triple-double (35 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists) was completely overshadowed. Joel Embiid also added 26 points and 15 rebounds.
