Lebron James and the Lakers have won 0 out of 4 opening games of the NBA’s new season!
For 19 years, nothing like this has happened: Lebron James’ team started the season with 4 consecutive losses for the first time since his rookie season. The Los Angeles Lakers had no chance after a disastrous third period against the Denver Nuggets – despite Lebron’s “comeback” attempt.
But let’s put it in order: Anthony Davis started the game aggressively and shot quite well, but overall the Lakers soon looked like they were going to have a bad day. Lebron’s team shot 8-of-30 from the perimeter without the injured Russell Westbrook, just 26.7 percent. It should be noted that the Lakers finished the first half with a 13:3 run, which meant a lot before the third period.

But Los Angeles couldn’t carry this attitude into the second half. The Lakers’ attack became ineffective again, and the Denver team punished the visitors. The Nuggets reached +18, and at the same time, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (13 points, 3/5) got injured. Only Lebron tried to bring his team back into the game in the last quarter. He closed the gap with 8 quick points and had a chance to reduce the deficit to -5, but he failed to use it. Instead, Denver’s Highland made a rare 3-pointer (Nuggets: 9/34 3-pointers), followed by an accurate layup by Jamal Murray, and Denver’s lead was already up to 15 points again.
Nikola Jokic shone traditionally – 31 points (12/17), 13 rebounds, 9 assists, 4 interceptions. Bruce Brown also played well (18 points, 4/6 three-pointers). Lebron James finally reached 19 points (8/21), had 9 assists and 8 turnovers. The top scorer for the Lakers was AD with 22 points (plus 14 rebounds and 5 assists).
