N’Golo Kante will not be able to play at the World Cup – finally, this news has now been officially confirmed.
Chelsea’s website reports that the French midfielder has undergone surgery following a hamstring injury. Consequently, Kante consulted with the club’s medical staff, discussed all possible options, and agreed that surgery was necessary to heal the injury. Evidently, the operation was successful, and Kante is expected to be out of action for 4 months.
Thus, N’Golo was left out of the World Cup. Kante suffered the injury at the start of the current season in August and was supposed to be back on the field in about a month and a half, but the injury did not cause him to play since then, and he will not be back on the field until 2023. Indeed, the absence of Kante is a big loss for the French national team.
Lastly, there is at least one good news for Didier Deschamps, the head coach of the “Tricolours” – Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has started training with the team and is expected to be ready to play at the end of this month and should be able to play at the World Cup. On the whole, France will have a decent chance to win the World Cup for the second time consecutively.
